Firstly my apologies if I should not be posting this here.
Although I believe this game to be in the same park as Dark Souls seeing as it is a dark fantasy RPG base game.

Also I know a lot off you peep`s are looking forward to this title so I thought I would share my find to all those of you who may not already know?.
Enjoy :)

I played it earlier today and I enjoy what little experience the demo provides. It allows you to play through two different scenarios and create a character and pawn. One scenario has you playing as a sword and shield wielding fighter as you traverse a small portion of a dungeon and serves as somewhat of a tutorial, ending in a battle with a Chimera.

The alternate scenario has you in an open field where you play as a bow and dual-dagger wielding Strider, pitting you and a party against a few Goblins and a Griffin. The character creation plays a part in this scenario, with your Strider bearing the appearance you chose for you character and one of your pawns bearing the appearance of your main companion.

Combat is fairly fast-paced, though the control scheme may require some getting used to. You have three sets of commands, one of which is a default set of actions and the other two are accessed by holding either a left or right shoulder button. For example, being a fighter with a sword and shield, your default commands apply to basic quick and strong attacks, jumping, etc. Holding the right shoulder button provides a set of actions for special attacks and dodging. The left shoulder button blocks with your shield while allowing to perform a variety of shield attacks and bashes.

Basic move speed seems somewhat slow, with or without your weapon(s) drawn, but a click of the left stick provides allows you to sprint at quite a substantial speed for as long as your stamina bar holds out. Under your health bar is a stamina bar, which is depleted by a few different actions, such as sprinting, performing special attacks or hanging on to larger monsters for extended periods of time. Upon depletion of this stamina bar, you character will be complete unable to perform any actions (including movement) while he/she recovers.

All in all the game shows great promise and is certainly a new approach to the genre. My only major reluctance is that I'm not necessarily fond of anything squad-based, though there are a few exceptions and it seems to me that pawns are fairly capable of performing on their own. However, should a pawn ever get taken out of the fight, they will call for assistance and their health bar will be seen as a blinking red outline with a skull next to it. I'm not sure how long they remain in this state, but all you need to do is make your way towards them and push a corresponding button (B in my case) to help them to their feet. This revives the pawn with approximately 1/4th of their maximum health, allowing them to continue the fight.

It's a new entry. With a strong enough fan base, a sequel would no doubt expand on this idea. This title is definitely worth the solo experience.

i fumbled a bit with the jap psn store to get the damn thing and i have to say i'm quite disappointed (with the demo, at least). the 2 quests are exceedingly short and incredibly easy (and i'm not comparing to DkS here, just to be clear :P). i hope they ramp up the difficulty in the full game or at least provide some "hard mode" for us Souls fans (Soulites? Soulers? Soulagers? Soulomites? :P)

Finally got round to playing the demo,I liked the demo and can see myself enjoying the whole game.
But talk about a tease,it is very short indeed and I totally agree on it being to easy.
But to fair I think they probably made it easy for the general audience, putting a hard difficulty demo out would and might have scared some foke off.
All in all still looking forward to playing the final game.

Tried it last night, overall i enjoyed the demo. Granted both missions were very short and the character creation is not as in depth as they made it seem but overall it was a good experience. The basic battles were not to bad not to hard but simple. Boss battles are drawn out and fun but i found that i loved bashing my shield mostly, i found myself yelling like a freaking animal saying "COME GET ME MOTHER FUCKERS" lol.

Pre ordered and intrigued.

I think the general opinion off everyone is the same, not a bad game although Demo way to short and to easy.
I must admit I liked the one were you are killing the Eagle.I loved the Bow n Arrow skills, volly of arrows etc really fun.
Again to be fair I do not think we were given enough time on the Demo to make a concrete decision or review off it.
Still glad to know you lot like it as I will be looking out for your Pawns if you play on Xbox?

Is there a demo on North American PSN? I finished watching all the videos & previews I could find online. So far, it appears as if the battles are much more drawn out. Seems to be very easy compared to DS. Perhaps the trade-off is a much more stylized sense of combat.

It certainly is more stylized than DS, but I want some actual challenge in the game. I think the demo was dumbed down for general audiences, though.

i read somewhere (please forgive me for not stating the sources, i just don't remember and my memory refuses to work today) that the party in the demo is lvl20 while the 2 areas are much lower level so it may be that...

Not sure if the areas are lower or not, but the party is definitely at level 20.

Tried going solo (Punted the first pawn off the cliff at the beginning and skipped the riftstone.) Enemies survived longer but most still fell under a single light combo+heavy attack/special attack. Still not very challenging till you get to the chimera... then I was reminded of flamelurker for some reason. Very fun fight but towards the end (last 1/3 of the final health bar) the damn thing seems near invulnerable to sword only attacks (Damage with fire enchant from mage pawn does a TON of damage apparently). I'm guessing some kind of rage-induced damage barrier?

I was hoping the demo would be a little longer but it was still fun regardless. The combat in the cave with your pawns felt like a clusterfuck until you fight the chimera, although I was playing on a small, 480p t.v. with the brightness set low so I couldn't see that well to begin with. Hopefully the full version of the game will have an option to choose the difficulty.

I loved, LOVED the Griffin battle. I jumped onto it as it flew, and stabbed it, and all that... It was so cinematic, but it was all player-controlled! Can't say the demo hasn't impressed me, happy about my pre-order so far!

I've been following this game since it was announced last year. The only thing that bothers me is that Capcom is behind it and DLC is already planned. I just hope Capcom don't release any "ending" DLC for this game like they did with some other title earlier this year. When I buy this game I expect to have a complete story.

On another note I've been hearing rumors that there's only one save per account/gamertag which is a poor design choice. Dragon's Dogma is a game that has choices and consequences, 9 classes, an amazing character creator and multiple endings (supposedly). NG+ is also rumored to be in the game based on something a developer said. I've also seen videos where there doesn't seem to be any option to create a new character without overwriting the previous one. Capcom once said that they want people to play through this game multiple times and that each experience will be different but you're telling me that there's only one save? That's stupid. If I spend 200 hours on a character, the last thing that I'd want to do is delete him/her. What's the point of building him/her up just to delete him in the end? With NG+ there's more incentive to keep the character.

Other than that, Dragon's Dogma looks amazing and could easily be the GOTY of this year.

I imagine that one reason to restrict saves would be so that people don't just use their own three, self designed pawns. Obviously, they could stop that another way, but that was my thinking. Maybe it's one of those games that just ends after the credits with nothing of interest left to do.
I was planning on having at least 2 games going, but that might not be possible. One thing to note however, it's easy to change and experience different classes as long as you've purchased the abilities and gear. How much changes in the game based on choices has yet to be seen, but I have only heard them emphasize the differences based on play styles.

The character creator also impacts the gameplay though. A bigger character runs faster than a smaller character for example. You can't change your character during the game based on what I've seen. Also people can still design their own pawns by simply creating a new Gamertag/PSN account. If restricting self made pawns was their intention then why didn't they just script the game so that you can't select pawns made on your Gamertag. Wouldn't matter anyway because you could still create a new account to create another pawn.

It's a poor design decision.

too easy for my taste, it was fun and all, but too gimmicky.
100 tactics available and 2 of them are needed.
even with a hard mode, fundamentally poor balancing in design is still poor design.
Tis a Pity... if I hear the full version is more difficult than the demo and forces you to use all the 100 available tactics, I'll give it a shot.
god of war was done right, tons of moves and spells/weapons, but only 2-4 moves were obsolete.
Dark Souls has gimmicky spells, but everything is viable and situational in PvE which the game was originally most focused on.
Obsolete elements and mechanics me no like, if Assassin's Creed didn't have such a decent story I'd never touch it, EVER!

I can definitely agree with this. Revelations is the worst, so far, in that regard with all of its unnecessary and seldom-used bomb making supplies. I do love the gameplay, but I never use a large majority of the items and tactics available.

Don't know about Dragon's Dogma though. I could say it's situational, as I found myself using all of the skills available to the Strider class in the Griffin battle, and I did use a majority of the fighter's skills throughout that little dungeon romp...if you could call it that.

But yes, regardless, the game is a bit too easy as it currently stands.
